Skylark

The April 2004 edition of Jo Beverley's occasional newsletter.

SKYLARK is beginning to move out of the warehouse. The official pub date is May 4th, but I suspect it will turn up in many places before that, so keep your eyes open. I've just put up the second and last excerpt, so if you enjoy those please check out http://www.jobev.com/skexc2.html

Don't forget that SKYLARK includes a $250 off coupon for a Caribbean cruise in October, and I'll be there. It all promises to be lots of fun.

I hope any of you in or around Tulsa are going to try to get over to the booksigning on Saturday, May 15th. This will be my first time in Oklahoma and I expect to have a ball. Of course, if you want to attend the whole conference, there may still be spaces. http://www.rwi-rwa.com/conference.php

And if you're in or around Dallas in July, the Literacy Signing as part of Romance Writers of America's annual conference is not to be missed. It's free, it's jammed with great authors, and the profits go to a great cause dear to all our hearts, literacy. http://www.rwanational.org/conferences.cfm

What am I writing right now? I'm nearing the end of Fitz and Damaris's book, but we still haven't settled on a title. Sometimes the Title Fairy visits and sometimes she's AWOL. One contender is A MOST UNSUITABLE MAN, which Fitz is for Damaris as he has nothing to offer in exchange for a husband's share of a fabulous fortune. Even his family is a disaster, and Damaris is keen to acquire a family. After all, she's an orphan who only ever really knew her mother, and Abigail Myddleton was a bit on the strange side. Now Damaris has met the Mallorens, she has high standards about family, and the Fitzrogers definitely don't match it.. This book will now be out in February 2005.

You know I always have more than one thing on the go, yes? I've tentatively started a story about the missing Rogue, Simon St. Bride. It may not pan out, but it seems he's spent most of his time in Canada as a sort of liaison to the Indian tribes in Upper Canada. We'll see.

My treat for you this time is the on line text of a book relevant to this, though I've had it bookmarked for a long time. It consists of letters from a family living near Toronto in the early 19th century. It first caught my interest because of the vivid descriptions of Regency England sent home by one of the sons. Check it out here where he arrives in London. http://www.canadiana.org/ECO/PageView/02885/0060?id=df8404adda7d59ea

This newsletter is up on my web site at http://www.jobev.com/news404.html Please do share that link with people who might appreciate it.
