Rachel Proudfoot is reluctant to take part in a local tradition that seems sinfully pagan, but she is even more bothered by the attentions of the Earl of Morden. There's no doubt at all about his sinfulness.

She has enough trouble resisting the temptation of rakish Lord Morden without supernatural intervention. When she plays the traditional role of the Demon's Bride, however, a mighty earth spirit wants to use their passion to return to the world.

Set in the Georgian period [but not a Malloren].
