The Devonish Somerfords rose from yeoman stock beginning in Tudor times.
The first Earl, in the 1600s claimed to have killed a dragon, hence Dragonkiller. Said to have dabbled in witchcraft. Reputation for madness ever since.

Con Sommerford, Viscount Amleigh, is assumed his heir.

David Kerslake Sommerford becomes 7th Earl in 1816.
